The practice leverages modern cloud-based technology and maintains strong relationships with clients across multiple industries. They handle complete bookkeeping cycles and work closely with external accountants for seamless year-end tax preparation.
Job Overview: You’ll be the financial backbone for multiple Australian businesses, managing their complete bookkeeping operations from document processing through to trial balance preparation. This role offers you the opportunity to work with cutting-edge cloud-based accounting software while supporting diverse clients across industries. You’ll play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with Australian tax obligations, directly contributing to the success and growth of established Australian businesses.
Responsibilities:
- Process and categorize client source documents through Dext document management platform
- Transfer processed transactions from Dext to MYOB and Xero accounting systems
- Reconcile supplier statements to invoices and manage payment processing workflows
- Handle credit card reconciliations, loan account management, and bank reconciliations
- Enter and reconcile daily sales figures across multiple client accounts
- Prepare comprehensive financial records to trial balance stage for year-end preparation
- Prepare monthly PAYG submissions and quarterly BAS returns for client compliance
- Manage payment runs, both direct processing and preparation for client approval
- Maintain accurate records across diverse business types from sole traders to medium enterprises
- Collaborate with external accountants to ensure seamless tax return preparation
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on Australian bookkeeping and tax experience
- Strong proficiency with Dext document management software
- Advanced experience with MYOB accounting software (primary platform)
- Working knowledge of Xero accounting platform
- Solid understanding of Australian tax obligations including PAYG and BAS requirements
- Experience with comprehensive bank reconciliations and payment processing
- Knowledge of Australian business compliance and reporting requirements
- Bonus if you have experience working with diverse client portfolios
- It helps if you’re familiar with retail and hospitality industry bookkeeping
