Job Description:
You’ll take ownership of the financial backbone for a dynamic transport company, ensuring their books stay clean, organized, and compliant. This role offers the perfect opportunity to make an immediate impact by streamlining their Xero system and establishing reliable weekly payroll processes. You’ll work directly with the business owner and management team, becoming an integral part of their operations while enjoying the flexibility of remote work.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and clean up existing Xero accounting system to ensure accuracy and organization
- Process weekly payroll for approximately 11 employees with precision and timeliness
- Create and send professional invoices to clients
- Perform regular bank reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records
- Prepare comprehensive monthly financial reports and profit & loss statements
- Handle general bookkeeping tasks and data entry with attention to detail
- Collect and organize financial data to support business decision-making
- Provide regular updates and communicate effectively with management team
Requirements:
- Xero certification or extensive hands-on experience with Xero accounting software
- Proven experience with payroll processing, particularly weekly payroll cycles
- Strong foundation in bookkeeping principles and Australian accounting standards
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate financial records
- Bonus if you have experience working with transport or logistics companies
- It helps if you’re comfortable working independently while maintaining regular communication
- Minimum availability of 20 hours per week with consistent weekly schedule
