An established group of Australian businesses is seeking a skilled and reliable Bookkeeper to manage end-to-end financial operations across multiple entities. This part-time role (approximately 20 hours per week) requires strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards, Xero, payroll, and BAS reporting.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and efficient, with proven experience handling bookkeeping for multiple businesses while maintaining accuracy and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily bookkeeping activities for multiple Australian business entities
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with Australian tax regulations
- Process accounts payable and receivable with timely reconciliations
- Manage payroll, superannuation, and employee entitlements in line with Australian standards
- Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS) and other compliance reports
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and intercompany transactions
- Generate regular financial reports and assist with month-end and year-end processes
- Collaborate with external accountants and business owners for accurate tax filings
- Maintain organized digital records of invoices, receipts, and supporting documents
- Identify and implement process improvements to ensure data integrity and efficiency
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of bookkeeping experience with Australian businesses
- Strong proficiency with Xero accounting software
- In-depth understanding of Australian tax, payroll, and BAS requirements
- Experience managing books for multiple entities or clients simultaneously
- Exceptional attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality
