IT & Systems Officer

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, 1 hour unpaid break
Work Schedule allows for some flexibility

Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated IT & Systems Officer to manage and maintain our digital infrastructure, ensuring smooth operations across our website, staff systems, email management, livestreams, and internal databases. This hands-on role is ideal for someone with a strong programming background, a collaborative approach, and a passion for efficient, secure, and functional IT systems in a dynamic environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Website Management: Maintain, update, and improve the Party’s website, including the creation of new web pages and implementing layout or feature changes using moderate to advanced programming skills.
  • Email Systems Administration:
    • Create and manage staff and volunteer email accounts.
    • Oversee email forwarding from the legacy domain (ldp.org.au).
    • Ensure email systems are secure and accessible.
  • Database Management:
    • Maintain and update internal databases to ensure accuracy and security.
    • Assist with data migrations and system integrations as needed.
  • Livestream Operations:
    • Operate livestreaming software and support live events.
    • Troubleshoot streaming issues in real time.
  • Technical Support & Liaison:
    • Provide IT support to staff and volunteers.
    • Liaise directly with internal and external stakeholders via email.
  • Out-of-Hours Availability:
    • Attend scheduled meetings outside standard business hours (approximately 1–2 meetings per fortnight, up to 2 hours each).

 

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience:
    • Minimum 3–5 years in IT, systems administration, or web development.
    • Proven experience managing digital systems for organizations with a public presence.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Moderate to advanced programming capabilities.
    • Experience with Ruby on Rails is highly preferred.
    • Familiarity with NationBuilder is ideal.
    • Comfortable working across content management systems, email platforms, and database tools.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent written communication skills in English.
    • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
    • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
    • Reliable and responsive, especially when supporting team members remotely.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Formal qualifications in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Prior experience in a political, advocacy, or non-profit environment.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based tools and CRM platforms.
