Senior Bookkeeper

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM AEST – Please align with Australian workdays (Victorian public holidays are observed).

Total Weekly Hours: 40 hours

This is a great opportunity for an experienced bookkeeper to take on a full-service role with real responsibility. You’ll handle key financial tasks like payroll, BAS, and tax compliance for multiple clients. You’ll work directly with clients and collaborate with accountants, gaining valuable experience and support for your career growth in a team that values your skills.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage aged payables and process bill payments on behalf of clients
  • Oversee aged receivables and follow up proactively on client payments
  • Handle end-to-end payroll operations, including payroll tax and compliance
  • Prepare and lodge BAS (Business Activity Statements) and manage STP finalization
  • Oversee WorkCover and other essential tax compliance obligations
  • Deliver complete monthly bookkeeping services with full client accountability
  • Generate detailed timesheet reports and maintain clear client communication
  • Collaborate with qualified accountants for year-end tax preparation
  • Process TPARs (Taxable Payments Annual Reports) and other regulatory requirements
  • Conduct advanced reconciliations and provide financial analysis
  • Participate in daily team meetings and maintain high communication standards

 

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of proven bookkeeping experience
  • Expert proficiency in accounting software, particularly Xero
  • Professional attitude with a strong desire for continuous learning
  • Excellent communication skills and a polished professional demeanor
  • Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Australian experience preferred, but strong international candidates with a willingness to quickly learn Australian GST and payroll are welcome
  • Strong commitment to confidentiality and handling sensitive financial data
  • Willingness to pursue ongoing professional development and specialized training
