Job Description:
This is an exceptional opportunity to become the primary draftsman for a specialized acoustic ceiling company, where you’ll master the unique art of timber acoustic ceiling design and manufacturing documentation. You’ll work with cutting-edge CAD technology to transform client visions into detailed technical drawings that guide both manufacturing and installation processes. The role offers comprehensive training over your first two months using real completed projects, ensuring you fully understand their specialized processes before taking on live work. As you develop expertise, you’ll gradually take on increased responsibility and eventually handle the majority of their drafting workload, making this an ideal position for career growth in a specialized field.
Responsibilities:
- Transform ceiling plans from DWG CAD files into detailed designs featuring the company’s specialized acoustic panel systems
- Create compelling customer-facing drawings that clearly communicate project outcomes and help clients visualize their finished spaces
- Develop precise manufacturing drawings that guide the workshop team in producing high-quality acoustic panels
- Generate comprehensive installation drawings that accompany finished products to construction sites, ensuring smooth installation processes
- Conduct material takeoffs and quantity calculations to support project planning and costing
- Provide administrative support during quieter periods, contributing to overall team efficiency
- Collaborate with the design coordination team to ensure seamless project flow from concept to completion
Requirements:
- Minimum 2-3 years of professional drafting experience with strong CAD software proficiency
- Understanding of reflected ceiling plans and ability to work with reverse-orientation technical drawings
- Practical manufacturing mindset with ability to consider timber thickness, fastener placement, and production feasibility
- Eagerness to learn specialized techniques and company-specific processes in the acoustic ceiling industry
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate technical documentation
- Adaptable professional who thrives in a learning environment and can master new methodologies
- Commitment to minimum 2-month engagement with potential for long-term career development
- Interest in becoming a key technical contributor handling 80-90% of company drafting workload
