Construction Quantity Surveyor

We're looking for a Construction Quantity Surveyor who will take ownership of measuring and rating construction projects from tender-stage drawings and documents, preparing detailed estimates that directly impact project bidding decisions. Working independently with clear priorities, you'll apply your understanding of Australian construction standards to deliver accurate takeoffs and measurements in a structured format. This is a project-based role with consistent workflow, offering the opportunity to work on diverse construction projects while developing deep expertise in Australian construction practices through ongoing feedback and weekly coaching sessions.

Client Overview

Our client is a growing construction estimating firm based in Australia, specializing in tender-stage project measurement and cost estimation. They work with a diverse portfolio of construction projects across various scales, providing detailed quantity surveying and estimating services. The company embraces a remote-first culture and has successfully integrated offshore talent into their workflow.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:30PM with 1 hour break | Australian Eastern Time

Responsibilities

  • Measure construction drawings and documents for tender-stage projects using CostX or Cubit software
  • Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and estimates in the required format provided by the estimating team
  • Refer to and interpret Australian construction standards to ensure accurate measurements and compliance
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously with varying scales and priorities on a weekly basis
  • Provide daily progress updates via email at start of day, midday, and end of day
  • Communicate clearly on project status, completed work, and next-day priorities
  • Participate in weekly feedback and training sessions to continuously improve accuracy and understanding of Australian standards
  • Maintain organized project documentation and tracking systems
  • Complete assigned projects within one-week turnaround timeframes
  • Adapt to project-specific requirements and formatting guidelines

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in construction estimating
  • Proficiency in CostX and/or Cubit quantity surveying software
  • Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical documents
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn Australian construction standards and methodologies
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measurements and estimates

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with Australian construction projects or standards is a plus
  • Experience working remotely with international teams
  • Experience in tender-stage estimating specifically
  • Comfortable with structured daily communication and reporting
