Power BI Data Engineer (ETL, Data Modeling & SimPro)

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Power BI Data Engineer (ETL, Data Modeling & SimPro) to support our systems and reporting needs. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes, data modeling, and data visualization, along with hands-on experience working with SimPro data. In this role, we will rely on you to build and maintain reliable data models, uphold data governance standards, and develop insightful Power BI reports that support informed business decisions. You will play a key role in transforming complex data into meaningful insights while ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and accessibility across the organization. 

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Australian Eastern Time (AEST) | With 1 hour break (40 work hours per week)

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain ETL pipelines to extract, transform, and load data efficiently
  • Build and optimize reliable data models, with a solid understanding of STAR Schema design principles
  • Create, document, and enforce data governance policies to ensure data quality and compliance
  • Design and develop interactive Power BI dashboards and reports, including complex measures using DAX
  • Interpret and follow wireframes and design specifications to deliver required reporting solutions
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Work specifically with SimPro data to support system integration and reporting needs

Requirements:

  • Proven ETL experience with strong ability to manipulate and transform data
  • Solid understanding and hands-on experience building data models, especially using the STAR Schema methodology
  • Experience documenting and maintaining data governance frameworks.
  • Advanced skills in Power BI, including creating DAX measures and complex visualizations
  • Demonstrated ability to work with SimPro data and understand its structure
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow wireframes accurately
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experienced in working remotely or catering to international clients
  • Must have own computer and stable internet connection
  • Ability to manage own benefits and taxes as an independent contractor
