Medical Assistant

Overview

We are seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient communications and administrative tasks for a podiatry practice. This role involves managing patient records, assisting with appointment confirmations, and supporting the practice’s transition to a new EMR system as needed. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and prior experience in healthcare administration or medical assisting are essential.


Job Highlights

Number of Paid Hours Per Week: 40 hours
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Eastern (1-hour unpaid break)
Work Arrangement: Work from home
Contract: Independent Contractor

Side Note:
Since this is a permanent work-from-home position and the arrangement is that of an Independent Contractor, the selected candidate must have their own computer and internet connection. They will handle their own benefits and taxes. Professional fees are on hourly rates and depend on your performance in the application process.


Responsibilities

  • Contact patients to ensure proper appointment registration and completion of pre-admission paperwork

  • Verify and manage patient documentation including social history, medical history, and systems review

  • Conduct appointment confirmations for patients who haven’t responded

  • Potentially scribe for doctors during patient consultations, accurately recording medical information

  • Utilize the clinic’s EMR system to manage patient data and appointments

  • Operate communication software to make and receive calls related to patient care

  • Support the practice’s transition to a new EMR system as needed

  • Contribute to improving patient experience and practice efficiency through proactive communication and organization


Requirements

  • Experience in healthcare administration or medical assisting, preferably in podiatry or related field

  • Proficiency with EMR systems and ability to quickly learn new software

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate, confidential patient records

  • Familiarity with medical terminology and procedures, particularly in podiatry

  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting

  • Flexibility to align working hours with the practice’s time zone and operational needs
