Bookkeeper
Overview
You’ll play a crucial role in supporting both internal operations and client services for a fast-growing bookkeeping firm. Starting with the company’s own books, you’ll quickly expand to work directly with clients as the business grows. Job Highlights
Number of Paid Hours Per Week: 20 hours/week
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM MST
Work Arrangement: Work from home
Contract: Independent Contractor
Client Timezone: Eastern Time
Side Note:
Since this is a permanent work-from-home position and the arrangement is that of an “Independent Contractor,” the selected candidates must have their own computer and internet connection. They will handle their own benefits and taxes. The professional fees are on hourly rates and the rate depends on your performance in the application process.
Responsibilities

Perform transaction matching and categorizing for company books and client accounts

Handle invoicing processes and month-end close procedures

Prepare month-end close checklists and manage recurring tasks in QuickBooks

Conduct bank reconciliations ensuring all transactions are captured correctly

Work with chart of accounts and recommend new account additions as clients grow

Support the business owner during busy client close periods (first 10 days of each month)

Eventually take ownership of smaller, simpler client accounts independently

Participate in monthly client meetings to review books and discuss financial matters

Manage day-to-day bookkeeping tasks and maintain accurate data entry
Requirements

3–5 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably with U.S. companies

Strong proficiency in QuickBooks; familiarity with Xero is a plus

Experience with transaction matching, categorizing, and reconciliations

Knowledge of chart of accounts setup and management

Ability to work independently on month-end close processes

Bonus: experience meeting with clients and explaining financial information

Helpful: comfortable with Google Sheets and manual tracking systems

Strong attention to detail for data entry and transaction categorization
